Tips for Stress-Free Event Planning
We’ve been a part of so many amazing events and weddings and know how stressful planning can be — but it doesn’t have to be!
In this blog post, we’re going to share some useful tips we’ve learned from couples along the way that will help put you at ease while planning your event.
First, make a checklist. This will help keep you organized and there’s something so rewarding about checking off each task as you go. Keep things fun and celebrate finalizing any big ticket items by pouring a glass of champagne with your fiancé!
Figure out your budget. What are you willing to spend to make this the event of your dreams? If you hire an event planner to help, take those costs into consideration, as well as what you’re willing to spend on food, drinks, live entertainment, and the venue. Creating a moodboard to show your planner is a great way to help them get a visual of what you’re looking for and sort out what to prioritize. Once you have your budget in mind, it will help narrow down your search so you don’t spend endless time looking through vendor lists. The next step would be to find your venue. Where do you want your event to take place? Some venues will even provide catering and seating, which is a good way to save time, money, and resources.
Always plan for alternate scenarios – event delays, missing decor, and especially weather. Even if it’s only mental preparation, make a list of “what if” scenarios, and how you would respond. When you’re involved with every detail of planning, it’s easy to notice small things that have gone wrong – but guests rarely notice. Just remember, if you’re having fun, your guests will have fun, too! Anything considered ahead of time will be easier to tackle and a lot less stress inducing. If your event is taking place outdoors, consider options for abrupt weather changes. Make sure your vendors have everything they need to implement alternate plans if needed.
Ask friends and family for assistance! Your friends and family are (almost!) as excited as you are for your big day. Small errands and tasks add up quickly if you’re working alone, so don’t be afraid to hand those off to a trusted friend. On the day of the wedding, you can even tap a couple friends for fun tasks like being the first on the dance floor to warm things up!
Finally, don’t forget to BREATHE! It’s your big day after all, and you should allow yourself to relax and enjoy it.
